Handmade Black Clay Sculpture, ‘Whole Heart’

Working in the traditional Oaxacan art form known as i barro negro /i , Fernando and Magali Pedro create this wonderful sculpture. Shaped like a real human heart, the sculpture can be displayed on a flat surface or on the wall if desired. The unique dark color and slightly metallic sheen of barro negro are obtained by polishing the clays surface with a quartz stone before the piece is fired in the kiln.
